How To Control Your Windows PC with Your iPhone Or iPad Using Remote Desktop

At some point in time, you move away from your home or from work for a meeting and all you have with you is your iPhone or iPad. And sometime you need access to a few documents that are in your windows computer at your home or office.

At times like this, You simply can’t just rush home or office to access that file you want, But what if you can remotely access your computer anywhere and have your document to your face? Well, its possible all your need is to make sure have correctly configured your PC for this task and you have a good internet connection.
So here is a step by step guide on how to configure remote desktop so you can control and access your Windows PC anywhere with your iPhone or iPads.

 How to Setup Remote Desktop Connections In Windows

   1   Go over to your PC, Now right click on the Computer icon in windows 7 or vista then click on properties
   2  Once you click properties, Then a dialog box will come up, Now click on the remote tab
   3 Now under the remote tab click on “Allow connections from Computers running any version of remote desktop”
   4   If you use a windows XP computer, You will need to goto the remote tab after clicking on system properties, Then click on “allow users to connect remotely to this computer”

Note: If remote desktop option is not enabled, You wont be able to access and you will be getting an error message every time you try.


How to Install Remote Desktop (RDP Lite) On Your IPhone Or IPad

   1. Once you finish with the setup above, Now pick up your phone and go over to app store and     download  the app remote desktop app RDP Lite (Link Below). Note: If you choose the premium version,   you will get better keyboard and mouse controls and some other network settings.
  2. Once you have the app installed, tap on menu and then click on edit connections.
   3. In the edit connections tab, there you will need to enter the IP of the computer you want to connect    to.(The default port is 3389.)
  4.  Just like the RDP software for desktop, You can also adjust the display option to make the app faster.
   5. And if you have more that one Computer on your network. Then Every RDP settings on those computers will be saved in the Host List.
  6.  Once you connect to the computer , you will need to log into the computer using a password just like the RDP for desktop requires.
    7.Once you log in , you will have direct access to control your desktop from your iPhone or iPad and you can as well zoom in and zoom out when navigating around your PC.
   8. You can change settings, access files and also transfer them to your mobile device
   9. Once you are done accessing your file, you can easily tap on disconnect to log out.
